Lydia Hong, OTS

Occupational Therapy
Hello! My name is Lydia, and I am currently an entry-level doctoral student at the University of Southern California. I earned my bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from California State University, Fullerton. Before starting my doctoral program, I worked as an instructional aide for students with emotional and behavioral disorders, as well as at a private elementary school tailored for students with language-based learning difficulties.
I am deeply passionate about creating a therapeutic environment that is both playful and supportive for children. Throughout my time in my program, I’ve had the opportunity to implement play-based activities that focus on specific skill development, including fine motor skills, sensory integration, problem-solving, and social skills, particularly during my experience in an outpatient pediatric clinic. Ultimately, my goal is to work closely with families to ensure we achieve the goals that are meaningful and important to them.
Fun fact: I have had many odd/fun work experiences, such as proctoring the bar and being a dove handler! 🕊️
